Bailey House Rental Agreement

The Bailey House is governed by the McDonough County Historic Preservation Society, a not for profit organization.  Please treat the Bailey House with respect.  We ask for your help in protecting the integrity of the home with the following requests.

1.       No smoking inside or within 15 feet of the entrance doors.

2.       No firearms permitted inside the Bailey House.

3.       No usage of command strips, scotch tape, strapping tape, and duct tapes on walls or woodwork. (Painters tape is allowed on woodwork.)

4.       Please do not allow children to play on the staircase, with the curtains or go down into the basement.

5.       The piano was built in 1887.  It is available for playing.  Please do not allow children to pound on the keys.

6.       Fireplaces are ornamental only. Please do not try to open.

7.       Do not allow furniture to rub against walls. This results in damage to the wallpaper, plaster and paint.

8.       Clean up major spills when they happen so not to damage the carpets and wood flooring.

9.       Please contact the Caretaker for instructions regarding candle and alcohol usage.

A handicap lift is available on the south end of front porch.  Discuss operations of lift with Caretaker.

Items that are available for your use at no extra charge: 6 foot barrack tables (8), folding chairs (50), 24 cup coffee pot, 10 cup automatic coffee maker, punch bowls (2), glass snack plates and cups (40), serving utensils, serving trays, assortment of silverware, assortment of glassware, ice bucket, coffee carafes (2), full size refrigerator, cook top and oven, and microwave.

For your convenience trash bags, paper towels, dish soap, and dishwasher soap are provided.

Renters are responsible for set up and clean up.

Clean Up Instructions:

1.       Please return all tables and chairs to the storage area in kitchen.

2.       Remove all items from refrigerator.

3.       Check sink drains to be sure they are free of food particles.

4.       Remove all trash to outside receptacles.

5.       Load and run dishwasher if using Bailey House items.

6.       Before leaving make sure toilets are not running. Call Caretaker if they don’t shut off.

7.       Turn off all interior lighting and lock back and front doors when leaving.

When renting the Bailey House you are agreeing to comply with the above.

Please notify the Caretaker if you need to cancel your event with as much notice as possible.

The McDonough County Historic Preservation Society is not responsible for accident or injury to persons or property while using the facility, nor for materials lost, stolen, damaged or left in the building for later pick up.
